Jon Fanner, a senior lecturer on the policing apprenticeships team, recently delivered a lecture at the London Air Ambulance Clinical Governance Day. The theme of the day was interdisciplinary teamwork among emergency services. This provided a platform for Jon to discuss the police response to critical incidents and the intricate investigative processes that follow. Drawing from his extensive experience as a former detective, Jon highlighted the challenges faced by investigators and all first responders during traumatic events. His presentation emphasised the importance of resilience, self-reflection, and mental well-being in these high-pressure roles. Jon was given the unique opportunity to visit the helipad. There, he witnessed firsthand the preparedness and professionalism of the London Air Ambulance team as they swiftly responded to an emergency call. Jon's lecture not only shed light on the critical role of the police in emergency situations but also underscored the power of collaboration among different emergency services.
