University of Cumbria Institute of Health colleagues, Matt Smith and Steve Walker, ran a workshop at this conference organised by the Institute of Education, Arts and Society (IoEAS) at the University of Cumbria. In the workshop, they explained the pivotal role of youth and social workers in preventing school disengagement among the most vulnerable young people. The workshop provided attendees with practical tools and innovative approaches to tackle the challenges faced by disadvantaged students. The conference was a testament to the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to creating equitable educational opportunities. The event brought together over 100 PGCE secondary students, educators, and experts dedicated to addressing and overcoming barriers faced by disadvantaged youth.
