Abstract

Dr Lois Mansfield from the University of Cumbria will be talking about how we can be more resilient when it comes to upland agriculture and the importance of valuing social and cultural assets. Upland Agriculture operates on the margins of cultivation and consequently is susceptible to a range of internal and external constraints and vulnerabilities. Future resilience in the sector therefore needs to develop strategies to allow these important farming systems to continue. Dr Lois Mansfield, in her research explores a sustainable livelihoods approach which aims to help farmers develop a range of solutions to change.
