Abstract
19-year-old John Smith, a flight engineer, has survived two horrific crashes in which his crewmates were killed or badly injured. He's seen as bad luck and struggles to be accepted. Things get worse when his plane is damaged on a mission, only just managing to release its bombs and return safely. In a massive raid on the V2 rocket plant at Peenmunde - 600 bombers set out, many not expected to return. John's crew succeed in the mission but their plane is badly damaged and the pilot shot. John must take control of the plane, get the crew home alive and at last dispel the rumours that surround him.
