Abstract
Join Edward Cooper, Senior Lecturer in Film & Television at the University of Cumbria, for an evening of archive cine film screenings. Edward will discuss the cultural significance of this film archive from the perspective of Carlisle United Football Club (CUFC). He will highlight the historical value of the cine film; the importance of preserving visual archives for both the football club and the broader community; and explore the heritage these reels capture, offering a glimpse into CUFC’s past, including old matchdays, supporters, players, and rare moments that define the club’s identity. The highlight of the evening will be the physical presentation of one of the Standard 8mm reels, projected traditionally for an authentic cine experience. To add an extra layer of immersion, a live soundtrack will accompany the screening.
