Abstract

Claire Inglis and Sarah Holman from the University of Cumbria's Institute of Education, Arts and Society, along with Matthew Smith from the University of Cumbria's Institute of Health, presented to NHS England’s Virtual Reality group. Their presentation focused on an innovative child protection simulation, with material developed by Finn Drude, who unfortunately could not attend the event. The core of their presentation included two major components:

Virtual Reality Headset Experience: This part of the presentation showcased a unique perspective through the eyes of a three-year-old child within their home environment when the professional is not present. The VR experience aims to provide professionals with a deeper understanding of the child's point of view.

Simulated Child Protection Meeting: The team also presented an interactive PowerPoint simulation of a child protection meeting. This simulation is designed to be highly engaging and includes participation from professionals across various health fields. The presentation underscored the importance of innovative training tools in improving child protection efforts.
