Abstract

Lorelei Waring, Senior Lecturer in Medical Imaging at the University of Cumbria, is to deliver one of the prestigious eponymous keynote lectures at this event; this accolade is indicative of Lorelei’s huge and enduring contribution to musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Lorelei said “There has been a massive increase in the demand for MSK ultrasound examinations over the last 20 years as well as an increase in the number and range of professionals undertaking this modality. This lecture aims to look at how MSK ultrasound education has changed in response to this. MSK ultrasound is undertaken by a range of different healthcare professionals including Radiographers, physiotherapists, doctors, podiatrists, occupational therapists, and rheumatology nurses and trying to meet the educational and clinical needs of this range of practitioners is very challenging. There has been a shift in how this education is delivered, but significant challenges still exist. I am hoping to get insight from a range of practitioners undertaking MSK ultrasound as well as service leads and students to inform my talk.”
