Abstract
Deborah Terras, Senior Lecturer in Working with Children and Families, University of Cumbria, was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Frieda Scott Foundation roundtable for funders, youth work provision and projects in Cumbria. The event celebrated the outstanding work and investment locally in youth work and examined the need for further investment in youth work provision and the future workforce. Deborah spoke about the current youth work sector, the current climate, funding, and investment as well as the future plans of the University of Cumbria around the new Youthwork Apprentice Degree, which will be in place, subject to validation, for September 2024. Amongst the stakeholders in the audience were alumni students for University of Cumbria who now were leaders in youth work. Deborah hopes that this event will be the beginning of a working relationship with the Frieda Scott Trust and other funding organisations to support the growth of the youth work sector.
