Abstract

Personal academic tutors can encounter conflicting ideologies of tutoring characterised as ‘with student’ or ‘with institution’ (Hunter 2004). In context, the robust personal academic tutor can be a challenge (Owen, 2002 ; Stephen et al., 2008) Such increased pressures may increase staff discontent and stress (Watts 2011).
