Abstract

Creative RE provides many opportunities for children's spiritual development because it involves children in exploring their own inner ideas, beliefs and feelings in response to learning about religious beliefs and concepts. Creative RE allows for individual reflection and expression through art, music, drama, poetry and other forms of creative writing. Opportunities for awe and wonder are provided through visits to places of worship or through individual responses to religious art or music (see chapter 7 in this volume). As teachers we need to be aware of children's spirituality and give avenues for them to explore and express this.
