Abstract
Welcome to this issue of the FEPSAC Newsletter – Fédération Européenne de Psychologie des Sport et des Activités Corporelles (European Federation of Sport Psychology).
FEPSAC managing council meeting in Lille from May 10–12, 2017
The recent FEPSAC MC meeting took place in Lille, France from May 10–12, 2017 and was hosted by the University of Lille 2 and Centre Resources en Optimisation de la Performance et en Psychologie du Sportif“ (C.R.O.P.S.) organized by Yancy Dufour and Nathalie Crepin. During the three days the MC members Karin Moesch, Nadine Debois, Maurizio Bertollo, and Lina Vaisetaite contributed to the further education of (mainly) French applied sport psychologists. Topics that were discussed during the MC meeting were the BASES-FEPSAC 2017 conference, the 2019 Congress in Münster, Germany, including FEPSAC's 50th anniversary celebration as well as FEPSAC's plans for the certification of specialists in applied sport psychology. Huge progress was made with regard to all topics and we would like to express a tremendous thanks to our hosts for their warm hospitality and the great working opportunities they provided us with! The MC is currently looking for MC meeting hosts for the fall of 2018 and the spring of 2019. Please find more info on hosting an MC meeting here.
Book about 50 years of FEPSAC
The next congress of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) in Münster 2019 will be combined with our 50th anniversary. Given this special event, Anne-Marie Elbe, Nadine Debois and Roland Seiler are editing a comprehensive book which includes chapters on the past present and future of the organisation. Individual chapters will reflect topics like the long tradition of FEPSAC Congresses, the internationalisation of sport psychology through the European Master Program, or the recent legalisation of FEPSAC. Authors are current and former FEPSAC MC members as well as colleagues who have cooperated and contributed to the development of FEPSAC in the past. It is planned to provide all attendees of the 2019 Münster Congress with a free copy of the book.
President symposium during the World Congress of sport psychology
Given the increasing popularity of sport psychology, the accreditation of sport psychologists is an important topic to ensure the quality of applied sport psychology practice. Unsurprisingly, various sport psychology organizations worldwide try to tackle this issue. For instance, one of the main goals of the current FEPSAC MC is to establish European certification guidelines for practitioners with a background in either sport science or psychology. The topic will also be discussed in the form of a president symposium with the title “Establishment of Sport Psychology International Accreditation” during the world congress in sport psychology which is organized by the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP) and will take place in Sevilla on 10th to 14th of July. The symposium will be introduced by the current president of ISSP, Gangyan Si, emphasizing the role of ISSP as a platform for a dialog among international sport psychology organizations. The first presentation will begiven by the president of the Asian-South Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP), Liwei Zhang, about the “Development of Accreditation System of Sport Psychologists in Asian-South-Pacific Region”. Thereafter the acting president of the African Society of Sport and Exercise Psychology (ASSEP), Athanasius N. Amasiatu will give a talk entitled “African Society of Sport and Exercise Psychology – The Way Forward”. The third presentation with the title “Taking the Bulls by the Horns: Accreditation of the Speciality” will be by delivered by the Coordinator of the Iberoamerican Federation of Professional Psychologists, Enrique Cantón. Finally, the symposium will close with a panel discussion including the presidents of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC), Anne-Marie Elbe, and of the Association for Sport Psychology (AASP), Angus Mugford.
ENYSSP conference
The 13th Conference of the European Network of Young Specialists in Sport Psychology (ENYSSP) will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 5th to 7th of October 2017. The conference is organized by a team of ENYSSP members and sport psychology enthusiasts from Slovakia and Czechia. Attendees can present their applied work as well as research in forms of workshops, short oral presentations, and posters. The best poster and workshop will be traditionally bestowed an award. The keynotes will be given by Mark. B. Andersen from the Halmstad University in Sweden, FEPSAC president Anne-Marie Elbe and Caroline Jannes president of the Flemish Association for Sport Psychology (VVSP). Finally, besides the goal of promoting and disseminating knowledge in the field of sport and exercise psychology the conference will as always offer many opportunities to for social networking.
