Abstract

The ideas at the heart of this chapter are inspired by contemporary debates relating to the nature of place and people's relationship to place. Such debate spans popular culture as well as academic discourse. Step into any decent bookshop and there is likely to be a table arranged with books relating to our relationship with place.
