Abstract
Hugh Mortimer Pollard, educationist (1915-2005), M.A., PhD., founded St Martin's College, Lancaster, UK in 1963. His book 'Pioneers of popular education' came out in 1956. It features substantial studies of significant figures in education in the early nineteenth century. The book was also published by Harvard University Press in 1957 (ISBN 9780674669505).
