Abstract

We rather glibly use words derived from 'Inspire' to describe certain musical, literary, poetic and artistic works - not to mention abstract ideas, actions, statements and so on. But when it comes to talking about what we actually mean by something being 'inspired' our vocabulary seems to suddenly dry up and we lose the ability to articulate our reasons for assigning such a descriptor to whatever we happen to be discussing. In the end it's assumed that our listeners will undertand and 'interpret' what we have said without needing further explanation.
