Abstract

To coincide with the Mountain Art Festival, the Royal Geographical Society NW Region hosts a debate chaired by Lord Inglewood, President of the Uplands Alliance, accompanied by a distinguished panel, on the future of Britain’s iconic hills and uplands. The debate will cover key issues on upland farming and its future, debating whether it will survive the onslaught from conservation, ecology and the control of the state, or be destined to become just a footnote in our island's history. Professor Ian Convery was a panelist.
